Iphonography - sharing the love of my Iphone

In the midst of posting sneak peeks this week from recent client sessions, I am hoping to share a few of my new obsessions! First up, I really want to start showing my Iphone images. Have I told you how much I LOVE MY IPHONE yet? Well, let’s just put it this way, it’s my new best friend. Always there when I need it, it mascarades as a communication center of course and holds many listening pleasures at my fingertips. But my primary use of my Iphone is to play with photographs! Making them, toying with them and sharing them. A pretty decent little point and shoot with limitations of course, but I prefer to think of those as “characteristics” of Iphonography and let them be. A wonderful choice of applications, free or real cheap - are easily had to keep me entertained at a moments notice - whenever the mood or times strikes!I am not terribly concerned with the final image in terms of huge enlargements, although I do plan to experiment with printing my Iphone images. I look at it as keeping my eye sharp and my brain thinking creatively, without carrying about a bunch of gear. And it frees me somehow, from the “daily grind” (albiet a pretty cool one) of making photographs as my job and lets me play and experiment again - as I did when I was just a starving artist!!! Now I am a business person too, I make photographs for my family portrait clients - that they will hold close and cherish throughout their lives and histories. Helping them to hold onto memories and moments in their lives - that is my job as I see it and it’s a pretty heavy responsibility. One that I take to heart. I also work on personal projects and photograph my own family ALOT. But sometimes I just need to lighten up. So……. it’s just nice to play and that’s what I do with my Iphone. If you don’t have one yet - you should!

It’s Henry’s - The Photographic and Digital Imaging Show and I will be doing demonstrations photographing kids with Sony’s great new Alpha 350 dslr this Saturday (May 3) from 10:30 ’til 6. It’s gonna be a blast. This camera really rocks for those that want to make the leap from a point and shoot to a dslr camera and make better photographs of their families! Come on down and say hello - would love to see you there. I’ve been playing around with the Alpha all week. Here are a few shots I’ve made - what fun! Which is the way it should be with kids!!

Well Spring is almost hear, we hope! So much to share, I have been really busy. Stay tuned for some new announcements, one big one about my return to film and lifestyle work! SO excited about that, can’t even tell you! Of course my studio work will continue, digital is so wonderful and the studio is so much fun!! I am just itching to get back to my roots, natural environments and some fine art printing - so a whole new (OLD) way of working is on it’s way! That’s how I started on this wonderful adventure, so can’t wait to dust off my Nikons and Bronica! And get wet in the darkroom again. I have also just returned from a trip to Vancouver. Have been working with HP Canada to develop some tips and projects for all you photography buffs out there. I appeared on City Tv Breakfast Television and will soon be on another great show, with host AJ called Get Connected. Also did some print interviews with the great Buzz Bishop of CyberBuzz.com and the lovely Lili Su of the Mingpao Daily Newspaper. What a blast and what a beautiful city! Vangroovy for sure…..I walked and walked and of course took a few shots to play around with.
some pro workshops are coming up too - www.thephotosalon.com. One at Pikto in the summer, and some in my beautiful studio in the Beaches area of Toronto. Whewww………..that’s a lot of info for one post, I know. Just had to get it off my chest! More details on all to come! thanks W
